Richard Church was born in England about 1608 and died in Dedham 26 Dec 1668. He emigrated to New England in 1630, but which ship he came over on is currently unknown. He was a carpenter, and originally came to help settle Wessagusset [Weymouth] in Massachusetts Bay Colony. He soon moved to Plymouth where he married Elizabeth Warren 7 Mar 1636/7. Previous Y-DNA testing

The Church DNA Project Lists six male Church's in Subgroup: R1b - Lineage V - Richard Church of Plymouth. None of these individuals have done any Y-SNP testing, but they have all done Y-STR 67 testing, with one member completing 111 Y-STR testing. Plugging in the modal 111 STR values into the Nevgen.org haplogroup predictor[1] the predictor gives an 100% chance the family falls under the R-DF27>Z195>Z198>CTS4188>S14445>Z29704>BY3268

Further needed testing

We need additional direct male-line descendants of Richard Church to WGS/NGS test to both confirm the haplogroup as well as to refine it further and delineate descendant clades.

  1. refined for R1b clades
