Thankful Bodfish was born Barnstable 19 Feb 1714 and died Raynham 13 Mar 1790. She married Barnstable 23 Feb 1730 Joseph Shell(e)y and they had five children (Raynham): Jonathan (1738), Joseph (c1740), Lydia (c1741 m George Wilbor), poss. Patience (1745 m John Eaton), and child (d. 1752).


Lydia Fuller was born East Haddam, CT 1 Sep 1709 and died there 14 Aug 1778. She married abt 1730 Daniel Gates and they had six children (East Haddam): Lydia (1732), Jesse (1734), Nathan (1736), Daniel (1738), Hannah (1744) and Joseph (bp 1748).

Thankful Fuller was born East Haddam, CT 10 Jul 1713 and died Haddam, CT 28 Apr 1806. She married about 1738 (as his second wife) Abijah Brainerd and they had eleven children (Haddam): Abijah (1738/9), Leah (1740 m ___ Freeman), Jeptha (bp 1742/3 d.y.), Rachel (1743/3 m ___ Brooks), Dorcas (1745/6 m ___ Higgins), Uriah (1747/8), Asaph (1749/50 d.y.), Shubael (1751/2), Thankful (bp 1755 m ___ Hubbard), Cornelius (1756) and Mercy (bp 1759 m ___ Bowers).

Zerviah/Zeruiah Fuller was born East Haddam, CT 29 Mar 1716 and died Cornwallis, NS aft Mar 1780. She married abt 1732 Edward Bill and they had eight children: Jonathan (1733), Joshua (1735), Mary (bp 1739), Benajah (bp 1743), Sybil (bp 1746), Elisha (bp 1748), Zerviah (bp 1750) and Joanna (bp 1752).

Hannah Fuller was born East Haddam, CT 29 Apr 1718 and died Middletown, CT 19 Nov 1753. She married East Haddam 10 Sep 1739 (as his first wife) Lemuel Daniels and they had five children (Haddam Neck, CT): Lemuel (1739), Hannah (c1741 d.y.), Asa (1745), Amasa (1748) and Hannah (1750).

Rachel Fuller was born East Haddam, CT 24 Feb 1727 and died Chesterfield, NH in 1815. She married Killingworth, CT 20 May 1746 Jonathan Hurd and they had ten children: Elizabeth (1747), Shubael (1748/9), Uriah (1751), Huldah (1753), Ebenezer (1756), Rachel (1758), Zadock (1761), Robert Lane (1764), Asenath (son, 1766) and Justus (1770).


Lydia Smith was born Barnstable 17 Aug 1714 and died Rochester 8 Mar 1770. She married Sandwich 1 Dec 1734 William Bassett and they had eleven children (Sandwich): William (1734/5 d.y.), Joseph (1737), Nathan (1739), William (1741/2), Stephen (1743), Heman (1746), Silas (1749), Lydia (1751-1752), Peres (1753), Lydia (1755) and Rufus (1757).

Abigail Smith was born Barnstable 21 Jul 1716. She married Barnstable 28 Jun 1739 Joseph Goodspeed and they had six children (Barnstable): Benjamin (1739/40), William (1741), Josiah (1744), Abigail (1746), Timothy (174(0 and Joseph (1756).

Ann Smith was born Barnstable 15 May 1722. She married Barnstable 12 Sep 1747 Timothy Goodspeed but it is currently unknown if they had any children.


Elizabeth Tomson was born Plympton 7 Aug 1726 and died probably Halifax 29 Aug 1771. She married Halifax 30 Sep 1743 Samuel Fuller and they hadnine children (Halifax): Zadock (1744), Elizabeth (1745), John (1748), Huldah (1750 d.y.), Huldah (1752), Martha (1754), Lydia (1760), Samuel (1763) and Lemuel (bp 1768).

Lydia Tomson was born Plympton 13 Aug 1730 and died Middleborough 29 Aug 1771. She married Halifax 20 Dec 1764 (as his first wife) Isaac Soule and they had three children (Middleborough): Mary (1766-1772), Lucy (1768-1852 unm.) and Lydia (1770-1819 unm.)


Sarah Hackett was born Middleborough 19 May 1725 and died aft Jan 1808. She married Taunton 19 Nov 1747 Eliakim Richmond and they had: Judah/Judith (1753), George and poss. Howland.

Lydia Hackett was born Middleborough 22 Nov 1730 and died there before 12 Aug 1763. She married Middleborough 13 Dec 1745 John Hall, but no children found for this couple.


Lydia Cobb was born Middleborough 17 Oct 1718. She married Middleborough 25 Jan 1738/9 Seth Howland and they had four children (Middleborough): Drusilla (1739), Nathan (1741/2), Deborah (1747/8) and Betty (1754).

Rachel Cobb was born Middleborough 17 Oct 1719 and died there 2 Mar 1767. She married Middleborough 23 Dec 1738 (as his third wife) Samuel Smith and they had seven children (Middleborough): William (1740), Samuel (1746), Cornelius (1748), Susannah (1751/2), Hannah (1754-1768 unm.), Ebenezer (1756) and Lucy (1759-1779 unm.)

Thankful Cobb was born Middleborough 4 Jun 1722 and died there 4 Jan 1776. She married Middleborough 16 Feb 1743/4 (as his first wife) Ichabod Wood and they had twelve children (Middleborough): Israel (1744), Anna (1745 d.y.), Samuel (1747-1778), Joshua (1749), Ichabod (1751), Thomas (1753), Elizabeth (1755-1774 unm.), Jacob (1756), Silvanus (1758), Joseph (twin, 1761), Benjamin (twin, 1761) and Andrew (1765).

Patience Cobb was born Middleborough abt 1725 and died Wareham 15 Jan 1792, She married Middleborough 26 Nov 1746 (as his second wife) William Winslow and they had seven children (Wareham): John (1748-1754), William (1750-1754), James (1751-1754), Nathaniel (1753-1753), John (1754), Patience (1757) and Mary (1758).

Sarah Cobb was born Middleborough 9 Apr 1729 and died there 22 Nov 1781. She married Middleborough 23 Jul 1753 Ebenezer Morton and they had six children (Middleborough): Mercy (1754-1755), Ebenezer (1756), Phebe (1758), Livy (son, 1760), Priscilla (1762) and Sarah (1765).

Priscilla Cobb was born Middleborough 15 Mar 1730/1 and died there 19 Aug 1788. She married Middleborough 24 Nov 1752 Silas Wood and they had eight children (Middleborough): Sarah (1753), Silas (1755), Priscilla (1757), Mary (1759), Lydia (1762), Levi (1764), Timothy (1766) and Abiel (1771-1790).


Lucretia Chipman was born Halifax 3 Oct 1727 and died Chebogue, NS 12 Feb 1795. She married Kingston 14 Apr 1747 George Ring and they had eleven children (Kingston): Louisa (1748), Samuel (1750-1771), Lucy (1751), Hannah (c 1755), ____ (bp 1759), ____ (bp 1759), George (bp 1759), Marcus (1760), Sherah (1762), Jacob and Luther.

Lydia Chipman was born Halifax 19 Dec 1728 and died there 22 Aug 1766. She married Halifax 6 Jan 1746 (as his first wife) Ebenezer Fuller and they had seven children (Halifax): Ruth (bp 1748), Lydia (bp 1749/50 d.y.), Lydia (bp 1753), Chipman (bp 1755), Priscilla (bp 1758), Eunice (bp 1760) and Ichabod (bp 1766 d.y.)

Anna Chipman was born Halifax 31 Mar 1736 and died Plympton 4 Jan 1778. She married (int. Halifax 8 Sep 1751) Thomas Cushman and they had thirteen children (Plympton): Abigail (bp 1752), Job (1753), Jerusha (1755), Samuel (1756-1777), Thomas (1759), Zachariah (twin, 1761, d.y.), Elizabeth (twin, 1761-1777), Zebedee (1763), Sarah (1765-1779), Lydia (1767), Chipman (1769-1789), Polly/Molly (1771) and Bartholomew (1776).

Bethiah Chipman was born Halifax 19 Mar 1752 and died Middleborough 9 Dec 1777. She married Halifax 28 Nov 1764 John Smith "Jr." and they had seven children (Halifax): Hannah (1761), Content (1763), Lucy (1764), Lydia (1767), Jacob (1769), Joseph (1771) and George (1776).

Priscilla Chipman was born Halifax 30 May 1733 and died Kingston 22 Dec 1800. She married Kingston 16 Dec 1755 Ezekiel Washburn and they had eight children (Kingston): Sylvia (1756), Priscilla (1759), Olive (1760), Lois (1772-1773), Ezekiel (1775-1775), Ichabod (1775-1775), Jacob (1775-1775) and Saba (bp 1776).

Mary Chipman was born Halifax 17 Jul 1738 and died there 6 Sep 1784. She married Halifax 16 Feb 1764 Jonathan Porter, but it is unknown whether they had any children.


Experience Curtis was born Pembroke 2 Sep 1723 and died Bridgewater 10 Dec 1785. She married Bridgewater 4 Oct 1749 Ezekiel Washburn and they had six children (Bridgewater): Zipporah (1750-1751), Ezekiel (1752-1785), Alice (1754 m William French), Elizabeth (1756 m Nathaniel Pratt), Experience (twin, 1758 no further record) and Deliverance (twin, 1758 m Abiel Packard & William Shaw [II]).


Hannah Egerton was born Halifax 8 Nov 1719 and died Somers, CT 14 May 1803. She married Kingston 14 Jul 1746 Thomas Hall and they had at least two children: Asahel (1746) and Thomas (1748).

Rebecca Egerton was born Halifax 11 May 1723 and died Hardwick, NJ Dec 1766. She married Halifax 5 Nov 1741 Elisha Cooke and they had

Experience Egerton was born Halifax 11 Oct 1725. She married Pembroke 10 Feb 1742/3 Benjamin Howland and they had six children: Colson (1744-1750), Priscilla (1746 m Mark Eames), Abraham (1747), Barnabas (1749), Benjamin (1750) and Illathea (1753 m Caleb Barker).

Miriam Egerton was born Halifax 4 Sep 1731. She married Barnstable 5 Apr 1759 Ebenezer Foster.[5]It is currently unknown whether they had any children.


Priscilla Bourn was born Pembroke 22 Nov 1721 and died (East) Bridgewater 6 Jan 1813. She married Pembroke 24 Feb 1757 Jonathan Perkins and they had at least one child: Bourn(e) (1758-1778).

Elizabeth Bourn was born Pembroke 22 Jul 1723. She married Pembroke 5 May 1757 Joseph Stetson (II). It is currently unknown whether they had any children.


Lydia Chard was born abt 1729 and may have been the Lydia Lyon who died Whately 21 Aug 1789 aged 60. She poss. married Wilton 25 Jan 1776 Peletiah Lyon. If this is correct, then she had no children.

Experience Chard was born abt 1736. She married Wilton 14 Jun 1754 Thaddeus Nichols and they had eleven children: Nehemiah (1756), Susannah (1756), Lydia (1757), Enos (1759), Betty (1761), Thaddeus (1762), Esther (1764), Eunice (1766), Eliakim (1772), Hannah (1774) and Elias (1776).

Mary Chard was born abt 1738 and is said to have died in 1824. She married 21 Oct 1751 Wilton Jonathan Nichols and they had at least two children: James (c1752) and Jonathan (c1754).

Abiah Chard was born abt 1740. She married twice, first abt 1765 John Fuller and second Weston 26 Sep 1787 Francis Newall. It is currently unknown whether she had any children.

Rebecca Chard was baptized Wilton, CT 15 May 1742 and died there 30 May 1804. She married Wilton 21 Oct 1759 Jachim Gregory. It is currently unknown whether they had any children.


Ann Gorham was born Barnstable 13 Jan 1716/7 and died there bef Mar 1748 (widow remarried). She married Barnstable 7 Aug 1740 (as his first wife) Thomas Annable and they had four children (Barnstable): Bachelder (1742 d.y.), Thankful (1743), Ann (1745 d.y.) and Thomas (1747 d.y.)

Thankful Gorham was born Barnstable 10 Feb 1721 and died aft Jan 1780. She married Barnstable 3 Feb 1742/3 Barnabas Lothrop and they had seven children (Barnstable): Hannah (1745), Mary (1747), Barnabas (1749), Abigail (1752), Isaac (1754 d.y.), John (1755) and Isaac (1757).

Mary Gorham was born Barnstable 1 Jan 1723/4 and died 13 Sep 1768. She married Barnstable 13 Nov 1755 George Clapp and they had two children (Scituate): George and Prudence.

Abigail Gorham was born Barnstable 1 Jun 1732 and died there 3 Aug 1765. She married Barnstable 22 Apr 1756 (as his first wife) Prince Gorham and they had one child (Barnstable): Sarah (1762).

Prudence Gorham was born Barnstable 16 Aug 1734 and died there 29 Mar 1814. She married Barnstable 13 Nov 1766 Moses Hatch and they had four children (Falmouth) Prince (bp 1768), Gorham (bp 1770), Charles (bp 1772) and Alice (bp 1774).

Rachel Gorham was born Barnstable 1736 and died Sandwich 10 Mar 1807. She married twice, first Barnstable 12 Feb 1761 Thomas Parker and second, Falmouth 17 May 1772 (as his second wife) Moses Smith. Rachel did not have any children by either marriage.


Desire Crocker was born Barnstable 9 Aug 1727 and died Kingston 22 May 1804. She married Barnstable 29 Aug 1747 Cornelius Sampson and they had ten children (Kingston): Crocker (1749), Joseph (1750/1), Rebecca (1752-1779 unm.), Josiah (1754), Priscilla (1755-1776 unm.), Anne/Nancy (1758-1836 unm.), Cornelius (1761-1761), Lucy (1763), Desire (1766-1829 unm.) and Cornelius (1771-1794 unm.)


  1. Signed off her dower rights to a deed of her husband. Original deed in possession of the Pilgrim John Howland Society.
  2. She was NOT the wife of John Watson.
  3. Her dower rights mentioned in deed of son Gideon.
  4. The original Pembroke VRs listed three children, a later copy of the VRs listed three different children born roughly the same time as the three children in the original record.
  5. An Ebenezer Foster married Barnstable (intentions 13 Aug 1763 Martha Snow. It is unknown if this was the widower of Miriam.

To date, we know of no matrilineal (all female line) descendants of Mary LEE Howland, who has taken a mtDNA test (and publicly posted their results). Anyone who believes they are a matrilineal descendant (ie mother's mother's mother's etc.) is encouraged to contact MayflowerDNA1620@gmail.com.
