Biography

First Generation

Josiah Keen was born about 1620 in London, England, son of John Keen and Martha Mey[1] and died in Duxbury 15 Sep 1710. He married twice, first abt 1655 to Abigail Little, then bef 1661 to Hannah Dingley. By his first wife, Josiah had a daughter (died young) & Josiah (II). By his second wife, he had seven children,[2] including Ephraim.


Second Generation

Josiah Keen (II) was born in Marshfield abt 1658 and died prob. Pembroke bet. 1728-1732. He married abt 1681 Lydia Baker and they had eleven children (born Duxbury): Benjamin (1682), Josiah (1683 dy), Abigail (1685), Eleanor, Lydia, Josiah, Nathaniel (1692), Bethiah, Samuel, Isaac and Hezekiah (1702).

Ephraim Keen was born in Duxbury about 1669 and died in Middleborough about Oct 1731. He married Hannah Sprout and they had: Mary, Ephraim, Lazarus, Hannah, Abigail, Weltha, Robert and Elizabeth.

  1. John & Martha emigrated with their family in 1638 aboard the Confidence. They had other children as well.
  2. Children by this second marriage do not descend from any Mayflower passenger.

DNA results

Previous Y-DNA testing

The Keane (etc.) Y-DNA Project does not list any descendants of John Keen of Hingham.

Further needed testing

We need direct male-line descendants of John Keen to WGS/NGS test to refine it further and delineate descendant clades.
