Biography
First Generation
Elizabeth is said to have been baptized at Baldock, Hertfordshire, England in Sep 1583[1] the daughter of Augustine Walker.[2] Elizabeth married Richard Warren at Great Amwell, Hertfordshire on 14 Apr 1610.[3] Their children were not baptized at Great Amwell (in fact, no baptismal records can be found for any of them) so it is possible the couple joined the Separatists faith and worshipped in secret with some currently unknown congregation. After the family emigrated in 1620, they remained at Plymouth, where Richard died in 1628. While Elizabeth survived her husband by almost fifty years, she never remarried and managed her estate independently. She died at Plymouth on 12 Oct 1673[4] and was buried at Burial Hill in Plymouth.</ref>Find-a-grave for Elizabeth (Walker) Warren
Richard and Elizabeth had seven children; two sons (both born in New Plimouth) and daughters Mary, Ann, Sarah, Elizabeth & Abigail (all born in England)[5]
Second Generation

- ↑ TAG 78:84
- ↑ ibid. She was not the daughter of his widow, Mary (Stringer) Walker, who was buried 26 Dec 1614 as they were married at Great Amwell on 27 Jun 1597.
- ↑ ibid, p. 82
- ↑ Plymouth Colony Records 8:35
- ↑ The first three daughters were named in the will of their maternal grandfather, Augustine Walker (dated 19 Apr 1613) thus confirming the marriage of Richard and Elizabeth was the Mayflower couple.
- ↑ Parents married 14 Apr 1610 and had three children in the will of Elizabeth's father dated Apr 1613. In addition, Mary's death record stated she died 27 Mar 1683 in her 73d year (in other words, aged 72), which correlates to a birth of about 1611.
- ↑ She filed a deposition dated 6 Jun 1672 stating she was then "aged sixty yeares or therabouts"
- ↑ named in the will of her maternal grandfather, Augustine Walker, bearing this date.
mtDNA Results
We know from the results of three mtDNA tests from two different daughters of Elizabeth (Tilley) Howland, the "umbilical" line falls under haplogroup H1a1 with no extra mutations. The RSRS values for the HVR/Control Regions, as reported by ftdna.com, are 146T, 152T, 195T, 247G, 522.1A, 522.2C, 315.1C, 16129G, 16162G, 16187C, 16189T, 16209C, 16223C, 16230A, 16278C, 16311T.
In addition, according to the H1 mtGenome Project the following Coding Region mutations also fall under H1a1 3010A (H1); 73G![back mutation](H1a); 6365C (H1a1). This project also dates the H1a1 clade as originating approximately 2500 B.C.E., so it is a VERY old haplogroup.
One of the mtDNA descendants results was inputted into James Lick's mthap utility. The result came up with an exact match to the H1a1 haplogroup with no additional mutations (besides the flaky 315.1C and 16519C mutations).
Thus mtDNA testing cannot be used to conclusively prove someone was a mtDNA descendant of Elizabeth Tilley, but it can be used to conclusively disprove such a relationship. In addition, mtDNA testing can be used to support a conclusion about a line being descended from Elizabeth, but additional evidence is also needed.
