Biography

First Generation

Thomas Bonney, possibly son of Thomas Bonney and Joyce Hudson (married Wollaton, Notts. 7 Nov 1585), was born likely in or near Sandwich, Kent, England about 1604 and died Duxbury 1 May 1693. He was a parishiner of St. Peter's Church, Sandwich, Kent when he emigrated to Plymouth Colony aboard the Hercules in 1634. According to his grandson (Jabez, son of John) Thomas Bonney was first married to Mary Terry (no children) and then about 1654 Mary Hunt. Even though he was said to be aged about 50 at the time of his second marriage, he had nine children by this second marriage: Mary (1656), Joseph (1660), Sarah (c1660), Hannah (c1663), John (1664), Thomas (c1665), William (1669), James (c1672) and Joseph (c1677).

Second Generation

Joseph Bonney was born Duxburrow (now Duxbury) about 1660 and died Pembroke in 1720. He married Plymouth 14 Nov 1707 Margaret Phillips and they had: Mary, Ezekiel, Nathaniel and Margaret (none known to have married Mayflower Descendants).

John Bonney was born Duxburrow (now Duxbury) 25 Feb 1663/4 and died Pembroke 16 Nov 1745. He married twice, first Sarah Malbone (no known ch.) and then Pembroke abt 1689 Elizabeth Bishop. By his second wife he had nine children: John (1690), Mary (1692), Elizabeth (1694), Ichabod (1698), Ruth (1699/1700), Deborah (1704), Anna (1706), Perez (1708/9) and Mary (1710).

Thomas Bonney was born Duxburrow (now Duxbury) 1665 and died there bef. 19 Aug 1735. He married twice, first Duxbury 24 Dec 1684 Dorcas Samson and second Duxbury 18 Jul 1695 Sarah Studley (no ch.) By his first wife he had three children: Ebenezer (c1689), Elizabeth (c1692) and Mercy (c1694).

John Bonney (II) was born Pembroke 27 Jun 1690 and died 1750. He married 1713 Elizabeth Hatch and they had five children: Elizabeth, Zerviah, John, Rachel and Thomas.

Previous Y-DNA testing

The does not give the Most Distant Known Patrilineal Ancestor (MDKPA) so it is impossible to determine whether any project members descend from Joseph Lovell.

Known patrilineal descendants of Thomas Bonney are needed to Big Y test, contact MayflowerDNA1620@gmail.com and disclose their lineage in order to refine this clade assignment.
