First Generation
[1] William Sherman was born possibly in Dedham, Essex, England about 1612.[1] England and was buried at Marshfield 25 Oct 1679. The date and circumstances of his emigration to New England is unknown, but he was listed in the Mar 1633 tax list of Plymouth, so he must have emigrated by 1632. He married at Plymouth 23 Jan 1638/9[2] to Prudence Hill and they had four children: William, Samuel, Hannah and John
Second Generation
William Sherman (II) was born Marshfield about 1640 and was buried there 17 Nov 1680. He married Marshfield 25 Dec 1667 to Desire Doty. They had six children: Hannah, Elizabeth (never married), William, Patience, Experience and Ebenezer.
Samuel Sherman was born Plymouth about 1642 and died Marshfield 22 Apr 1718. He married twice, first abt 1665 Sarah Doggett and second, about about 1686 Hannah poss. Doggett. He had a number of children by both wives including (by second wife) Caleb.
Third Generation
[2]William Sherman (III) was born Marshfield 19 Apr 1672 and died there 26 Feb 1739. He married there 3 Feb 1697 to Mercy White. They had four daughters: Thankful, Sarah, Abigail (twin, never married) and Mary (twin, never married). It is also believed William was the father of Bethiah Haskell's son, William Sherman, born at Rochester 5 Apr 1710.
[3]Ebenezer Sherman was born Marshfield 21 Apr 1680 and died there 1 Feb 1759. He married there 18 Sep 1702 to Margaret Decrow and they had ten children: Eleazer (never married), Rachel, William, Elizabeth, Joseph(never married), [4], Ebenezer, Robert, John and Elisha
[5]Caleb Sherman was born Marshfield in Apr 1703 and died aft 26 Apr 1760. He married twice, first Plymouth before 1738 Deborah Ring and second Plymouth 15 Aug 1745 Rebecca Rider. By his first wife, Caleb only had one child, born 13 Aug and died 5 Sep 1738.

Previous Y-DNA testing
The Sherman DNA project fails to list any descendants of William Sherman, but lists descendants of Samuel & Philip Sherman (both from Dedham, Essex, England).
