Biography

First Generation

Mary Tucker daughter of John Tucker & ____ was baptized Hingham 8 Oct 1640 and died Little Compton (now in RI) 21 Mar 1710. She married Hingham 13 Dec 1660 Joseph Church and they had ten children: Joseph (1662), Elizabeth (1664), Mary (1666), John (1668), Alice (1670-1670/1), Benjamin (1672-1672), Sarah (1673 not in father's will), William (1675), Deborah (1677) and Abigail (1680).

Second Generation

Elizabeth "Eliza" Church was born Hingham 28 Jan 1663/4 and died Hebron, CT aft 16 Jan 1724/5. She married Little Compton (now in RI) 12 Nov 1685 Joseph Blackman and they had ten children: Benjamin (bp 1700, d.y.), Ichabod (1692), Sarah (1695-1717 unm.), Rebecca (1696), Elisha (1699), Benjamin (1701), Mary (1703/4), Abraham (1705), Elizabeth (1707) and Leah (1712 unm.).

Mary Church was born Hingham 26 Mar 1666 and died Little Compton, RI 11 Nov 1748. She married abt 1688 John Wood (III) and they had eleven children (Little Compton, now in MA): John (1689-1711/2), Mary (1691), Sarah (1692-1711/2 unm.), Deborah (1694-1711/2 unm.), Margaret (1696-1711/2 unm.), Abigail (1697-1711/2 unm.), Hannah (1701), Rebecca (1703 not in father's will), Joseph (1705) and Dorothy (1707).

Deborah Church was born Hingham 13 Mar 1676/7 and died Lebanon, CT 8 Jun 1752. She married twice, first Little Compton (now in RI) 13 Jul 1699 Samuel Gray[1] then Little Compton 21 Jan 1713/4 Dan Throop. By her first husband she had seven children: Samuel (1700), John (1701-1702), Dorothy (1704), Joseph (1705/6), Lydia (1707), Simeon (1709) and Ignatius (1711). By her second husband she had two more children: Dan (1715) and Joseph (1717).

Abigail Church was born Little Compton (now in RI) in 1680 and died there 4 Jul 1720. She married Little Compton 1 Oct 1696 William Simmons and they had twelve children (Little Compton): Mercy (1697), William (1699), Lydia (1700), Joseph (1702), John (1704), Abigail (1706), Rebecca (1708), Mary (1709 unm.), Benjamin (1713), Ichabod (1715), Peleg (1716) and Sarah (1718-1718).

Third Generation

Rebecca Blackman was born Little Compton (now in RI) 5 Jun 1696 and died Lebanon, CT aft 8 May 1770. She married Lebanon 24 Dec 1722 Benjamin Brewster (III) and they had two children (Lebanon): Jonathan (1723) and Benjamin (1726).

Mary Blackman was born Lebanon, CT 12 Feb 1703/4 and died there 3 Aug 1783. She married Lebanon 17 Sep 1724 Caleb Hyde and they had seven children: Caleb (1724/5-1730), Joshua (1726/7), Sarah (1729 m Oliver Collens), Mary (1731), Caleb (1735-1735), Eleanor (1736) and Gamaliel (c1738).

Elizabeth Blackman was born Little Compton (now in RI) 11 Sep 1707. She married Lebanon 2 Jun 1725 Stephen Powell and they had three children: Elizabeth (1726/7), Lydia (1730/1) and Stephen (1734/5).


Mary Wood was born Little Compton (now in RI) 14 Mar 1691 and died there 7 Oct 1745. She married Little Compton 10 Jul 1712 Thomas Bailey and they had ten children: John (1713), Thomas (1715), Constant (son, 1717), Joseph (1719), Oliver (1721), Barzilla (1724), James (1728), William (1730), Lemuel (1732-1745) and Mary (1733 m Stephen Paine).

Hannah Wood was born Little Compton (now in RI) 7 Oct 1701 and died Bristol Co., RI 14 Jun 1730. She married Little Compton 5 Jan 1721 Jonathan Peck and they had six children: Rebecca (1721), John (1723), Jonathan (1724/5), Nicholas (1726/7-1731), Hannah (1728/9-1729) and Hannah (1729/30).

Dorothy Wood was born Little Compton (now in RI) 12 Dec 1707 and died in CT 29 Jul 1771. She married Little Compton 16 Mar 1727 Joseph Rogers (II)[2] and they had ten children: Mary (1728), Joseph (1730), Elizabeth (1734), John (1736), Constant (son, 1738), Abigail (1740 d.y.), Elizabeth (1743), Abigail (1745), Samuel (1748) and Elnathan (1752).


Deborah Gray was born Little Compton (now in RI) 14 Jan 1703/4 and died Lebanon, CT in 1743. She married twice, first Taunton 23 May 1722 Samuel Throop, then Lebanon, CT 25 Feb 1729 Ebenezer Hyde. By her first husband she had three children: Mary (1723 m Joshua Barker), Samuel, Macey (son 1726/7-1756 unm.). By her second husband she had seven more children: William (1730), Ignatius (1731-1731), Ebenezer (1732), Deborah (1734), Elizabeth (1736), Ignatius (1738) and Submit (1742).

Lydia Gray was born Little Compton (now in RI) 16 Sep 1707. She married Little Compton 25 Aug 1731 Joseph Ladd and they had five children: Deborah (1732), Joseph (1733), Elizabeth (1735), William (1737) and Lydia (1740).


Mercy Simmons was born Little Compton (now in RI) 1 Jul 1697 and died there in Nov 1768. She married Little Compton 13 Sep 1725 James Bennett and they had four children: James (1726), Mercy (1726), John (1728) and Ruth (1729).

Lydia Simmons was born Little Compton (now in RI) 15 Dec 1700 and died Newport, RI 25 Jun 1760. She married Tiverton RI 4 Apr 1723 Joseph Tillinghast (II) and they had six children: Stukely (1725-1749), Mary (m Elias Bryer), Sarah (1728 m Lemuel Wyatt), Thomas (1731), Henry (c1740) and Joseph.

Abigail Simmons was born Little Compton (now in RI) 14 Jul 1706 and died Norwich, CT 5 Jan 1765. She married Little Compton 3 Dec 1736 Job Palmer and they had two children: Priscilla (1738) and Abigail (bp 1741).

Rebecca Simmons was born Little Compton (now in RI) 8 May 1708 and died aft 1750. She married Norwich (now Franklin), CT 6 Jan 1730/1 Nathaniel Badger and they had: Ezekiel (c1733), Rebecca (1738 m John Parry), Rhoda (1741 m John Ewing), James (1744) and Chloe (bp 1747).
