Paper Trail

First Generation

Very little is known about Margaret. Even her maiden name is currently unknown. She married Robert Hicks abt 1602 and died Plymouth bef 5 Mar 1666. They had nine children: Thomas (bp 1603/4 bur 1604), John (bp 1605 nfr), Sara (bp 1607 bur 1617/8), Richard (bp 1609 nfr), Samuel (bp 1611), Lydia (bp 1612 m Edward Bangs), Phoebe (bp 1614/5), Mary (bp 1617 bur 1619) and Ephraim (c 1625)

Second Generation

Lydia Hicks was baptised St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, Surrey 6 Sep 1612 and died Plymouth before 1636. She married Edward Bangs but only had one son, John (c1631) before her early death.

Phoebe Hicks was baptised St Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, Surrey 15 Mar 1614/5 and died Plymouth 22 May 1663. She married Plymouth abt 1635 George Martin and they had seven children: John (c1636), Phebe (1638), Mary (c1642), Elizabeth (1648), Samuel (1648-1649), Jonathan (1652) and Elkanah (1656).

Third Generation

Phebe Watson was likely born Plymouth about 1638 and died there 1 Jan 1682. She married Plymouth 22 Jan 1656/7 Jonathan Shaw and they had eight children: Phebe (1658 m John Morton), Hannah (1662 m Thomas Paine), Jonathan (1663), Mary (1665 m Eleazer Ring), George (1667), Lydia (1668 m Nicholas Snow), Benjamin (c1670) and Benoni (1672).

Mary Watson was born Plymouth about 1642 and died Taunton 1 Dec 1723. She married Taunton 21 Aug 1662 Thomas Leonard and they had eleven children: Mary (1663 m Joseph Tisdale), Thomas (1665), John (1668), George (1671), Samuel (1674), Elkanah (1677), James (1679), infant daughter (b & d 1681), Seth (1682), Phoebe (1684-1685) and Elizabeth (1686 m Jonathan Williams).

Elizabeth Watson was born Plymouth about 1648 and died Taunton about 1723. She married Plymouth 28 Nov 1667 Joseph Williams and they had eight children: Elizabeth (1669-1688 unm), Richard (1671), Mehitable (1676 m Increase Robinson [II]), Joseph (1678), Benjamin (1681), Ebenezer (1685), Phebe (1687 m Christopher Richmond) and Richard (1689).

mtDNA Results

To date, no know matrilineal descendants of Margaret have mtDNA tested and posted their results.
