Previous testing
The Howland surname DNA project Groups: "Henry Howland through son Samuel" and "Henry Howland through son Zoeth" lists eight individuals who descend from this Henry Howland. It also has separate groups for Y-DNA descendants of John Howland and Y-DNA descendants of Arthur Howland. All of these groups are predicted to fall under R1b-M269.
NGS/WGS testing
Y-DNA Descendants of each the three brothers have Big Y tested and discovered where the haplogroup of Henry Howland of Fen Stanton (father to the three brothers) falls under R-U106>Z2265>BY30097>FTT8>Z381>Z301>L48>Z9>Z30>Z27>Z345>Z2>Z7>Z31>Z8>Z1>Z344>Z6>A96>S10415>A9701>A9703>A9708. The Big Y tests for descendants of two sons of Henry Howland (II) document where Henry (II) himself had a Y-DNA mutation, forming the A9708>FGC58211 clade. Thus all Howlands who test positive for FGC58211 must be Y-DNA descendants of Henry (II) and all Y-DNA descendants of Henry (II) would fall into this clade. In a similar vein, descendants of Arthur Howland form the A9708>FT62874 thus everyone who falls into this clade must descend from Arthur Howland.
