First Generation

Alice Richards, daughter of Thomas Richards and Welthian Loring was baptized Pitminster, Somerset 7 Apr 1629 and died Plymouth 12 Dec 1671. The family was in Dorchester (now part of Boston) by 1634 and may have came over on the Mary & John in 1630. Alice married (Maj.) William Bradford (II) in Plymouth shortly after 23 Apr 1650 and they had ten children (Plymouth): John (1653), William (1655), Thomas (1657), Alice (c1659), Hannah (c1661), Mercy (c1662), Samuel (1668), Melatiah (1664), Mary and Sarah.

Second Generation

Alice Bradford was born Plymouth abt 1659 and died Canterbury, CT 10 Mar 1745. She married twice, first Dedham 29 Jan 1680 (Rev.) William Adams and second Norwich, CT 8 May 1687 (Maj.) James Fitch (II). By her first husband Alice had four children: Elizabeth (1680/1), Alice (1682), William (1683) and Abial (dau 1685). By her second husband (James Fitch) Alice had seven more children: Abigail (1687), Ebenezer (1689), Daniel (1692), Lucy (c1697), Jerusha (1699), Theophilus (c1701) and Jabez (1703).

Mercy Bradford was baptized First Church of Boston 2 Sep 1660 and died Hartford, CT bef 5 Apr 1720. She married Hartford 16 Sep 1680 Samuel Steel(e) and they had eight children: Thomas (1681), Elizabeth (1682/3), Samuel (twin, 1684/5), Jerusha (twin, 1684/5), William (1687/8), Abiel (dau, 1693), Daniel (1697) and Eliphalet (1700).

Hannah Bradford was born Plymouth 9 May 1662 and died Windham, CT 28 May 1738. She married Windham 28 Nov 1682 Joshua Ripley, Esq. and they had twelve children: Alice (1683), Hannah (1684/5), Faith (1686), Joshua (1688), Margaret (1690), Rachel (twin, 1693), Leah (twin, 1693), Hezekiah (1695), David (1697), Irena (1700), Jerusha (twin, 1704) and Ann (twin, 1704).

Melatiah Bradford was born Plymouth 1 Nov 1664 and died Killingworth, CT 24 Apr 1739. She married twice, first Plymouth 1684 John Steele and second 1691 Samuel Stevens. By her first husband, she had three children: Bethia (c1690), John (1692) and Ebenezer (1695). By her second husband she had two additional children: Elizabeth (c1703) and William (1705/6).

Mary Bradford was born Plymouth 1668 and died Chilmark 7 May 1720. She married abt 1687 William Hunt and they had two children: Mary (1687/8) and William (1693).

Sarah Bradford was born Plymouth 1671 and died Marshfield abt 18 Oct 1705. She married bef Oct 1688 Kenelm Baker and they had ten children: Sarah (1688), Alice (1690), Eleanor (1692), Abigail (1693), Kenelm (1695), Bethiah (1699), Keziah (1701), Samuel (1703), Edward (twin, 1705) and William (twin, 1705)

Third Generation

Elizabeth Adams was born Dedham 23 Feb 1680/1 and died New Haven, CT 21 Dec 1766. She married twice, first Windham, CT 14 Sep 1696 (Rev.) Samuel Whiting and second Windham 22 Dec 1737 (Rev.) Samuel Niles (no children). By her first husband, Elizabeth had fourteen children: Anne (1698), Samuel (1700-1718), Elizabeth (1702), William (1704), Joseph (1705-1722), John (1705/6), Sybil (1708), Martha (1710-1719), Mary (1712), Eliphalet (1715), Elisha (1717), Samuel (1720), Joseph (c1722) and Nathan (1724).

Alice Adams was born Dedham 3 Apr 1682 and died Enfield (now part of CT) 19 Feb 1735. She married Enfield 7 Feb 1700/1 (Rev.) Nathaniel Collins and they had eight children: Mary (1701-1701/2), Ann (1702), John (1704/5), Alice (1706/7-1709), Nathaniel (1709), William (1711), Edward (1713) and Alice (1716).

Abiel/Abial Adams was born Dedham 15 Dec 1685 and died (No.) Mansfield, CT 30 Jul 1758. She married twice, first Falmouth (pub.) 3 Sep 1707 (Rev.) Joseph Metcalf and second aft 1723 (Rev.) Isaac Chauncey (no children). By her first husband she had eleven children (Falmouth): Abigail (1708), Abial (1709), Abijah (1711 d.y.), Hannah (twin, 1712), Alice (twin, 1712), Mary (1715), Elizabeth (1716/7), Delight (1719), Sarah (1720/1), Sybil (1722) and Azubah (1723 d.y.).

Abigail Fitch was born Norwich, CT 22 Feb 1687/8 and died Canterbury, CT 19 May 1759. She married Canterbury 22 Oct 1713 John Dyer and they had eight children: Sybil (1714), Elijah (1716), Abigail (1718), James (1719/20), John (1722), Joseph (1723/4), Sarah (1727) and Ebenezer (1729).

Lucy Fitch was born Norwich, CT abt 1698 and died Mansfield, CT aft 1761. She married Canterbury 19 Mar 1719 Henry Cleveland and they had five children (Canterbury): William (1719), Nehemiah (1721), Lucy (1725), Jabez (1736-1736) and Jabez (1737).

Jerusha Fitch was born Canterbury, CT 19 Feb 1699 and died Windsor, CT 19 Feb 1780. She married Canterbury 18 Mar 1717/8 Daniel Bissell (II) and they had five children (Windsor): Jabez (1718/9), Jerusha (1721), Margaret (1723), Daniel (1724/5) and Ebenezer Fitch (1736).


Elizabeth Steele was baptized Hartford, CT 25 Feb 1682/3. She is said to have died Hartford bef 5 Feb 1711/2, likely unmarried.

Jerusha Steele (twin) was born Hartford, CT 15 Feb 1684/5. She is said to have died Hartford bef 5 Feb 1711/2, likely unmarried.

Abiel Steele was born Hartford, CT 8 Oct 1693 and died Stonington, CT 25 May 1756. She married Hartford 25 Dec 1712 John Webster and they had twelve children: Elisha (1713), Jerusha (1714/5), Aaron (1716/7), Abiel (son, 1718), Mercy (1720), Sarah (1722), Ann (1724), Susannah (1726), John (1728), Abigail (1731), Osee (son, 1734) and Robert (1736).


Alice Ripley was born Hingham 17 Sep 1682 (or 1683) and died Norwich, CT 18 Dec 1730. She married Norwich 18 Apr 1703 Samuel Edgerton and they had ten children (Norwich): Samuel (1704), Peter (1706), Joshua (1708), John (twin, 1710), William (twin, 1710), Mary (1713), Elijah (1715), David (1718), Alice (1721) and Daniel (1725).

Hannah Ripley was born Hingham 2 Mar 1685 and died Rockingham, VT 19 Mar 1751. She married 8 Oct 1711 Samuel Webb and they had four children (Windham): Ebenezer (1712-1713), Hannah (1715), Ebenezer (1719) and Joshua (1722).

Faith Ripley was born Hingham 20 Sep 1686 and died Windham, CT 11 Feb 1721. She married Windham 5 Jan 1709 Samuel Bingham and they had five children (Windham): Jerusha (1709/10), Abishai (son 1710/1), Lemuel (1713), Anne (1716) and Mariah (1720-1720)

Margaret Ripley was born Norwich, CT 4 Nov 1690 and died Lebanon, CT 3 May 1774. She married Benjamin Seabury and they had four children (Lebanon): Abigail (1715), Samuel (1718), Elisha (1721) and Sarah (1723).

Rachel Ripley (twin) was born Windham, CT 17 Apr 1693 and died there 4 Apr 1782. She married Norwich 21 Jun 1714 Winslow Tracy and they had seven children: Joshua (1715-1715), Perez (1716), Josiah (1718), Eliphalet (1720), Nehemiah (1723), Samuel (1724) and Solomon (1728).

Leah Ripley (twin) was born Windham, CT 17 Apr 1693 and died Bloomfield, CT 28 Apr 1779. She married twice, first Windham 14 Mar 1716 Samuel Cook and second Windham 9 Nov 1752 James Bradford (no children). By her first husband she had nine children: Phineas (1716-1728), Rebekah (1718), Jerusha (1721), Mary (1723 d.y.), Welthean (1724), Mary (1729), Daniel (1732), Samuel (1734) and Phineas (1736).

Irena Ripley was born Windham 28 Aug 1700 and died there 20 Jan 1727. She married Windham 20 Apr 1719 Samuel Manning (III) and they had six children (Windham): Josiah (1719), Hezekiah (1721), Abigail (1722), Sarah Ann (1724), Samuel (1725) and David (1726).

Jerusha Ripley (twin) was born Windham 1 Nov 1704 and died there unmarried 8 Oct 1792. She had a child out of wedlock: Elias (1731)

Anna Ripley (twin) was born Windham 1 Nov 1704 and died there bef 17 Nov 1747. She married abt 1730 Solomon Wheat and they had six children: Sarah (bp 1731), Solomon (1731), Mary (1733), Anne (1736), Hannah (1738) and Jemima (1740).


Bethia Steele was born Hartford, CT abt 1690 and died there abt 1746. She married 17 May 1709 Samuel Shepard (Shepherd) and they had three children: John (1710), James (1714) and Bethia (bp 1720).

Elizabeth Stevens was born Guilford, CT abt 1703 and died New Haven, CT 25 Aug 1744. She married Killingworth, CT 30 Aug 1724 John Hubbard (III) and they had eight children: Leverett (1725), John (1726/7), Daniel (1729), Elizabeth (1731), William (1732-1736), William Abdiel (1736), Nathaniel (1738) and Amelia (bp 1742).


Mary Hunt was born Weymouth 18 Feb 1687/8 and died Windham, CT 17 Jun 1716. She married Eastham Feb 1706 Nathaniel Knowles and they had three children: Rebekah (1710), Mary (1713) and Malithiah (dau, 1715).


Sarah Baker was born Marshfield 28 Oct 1688 and died Rochester abt 26 Jul 1765. She married Marshfield 26 Mar 1712 John Sherman and they had nine children (Rochester): Sarah (1714), Jane (1716), Alice (1719), Abigail (1721), John (twin, 1721), Bethia (1724), William (1726), Keziah (1728) and Samuel (1731).

Alice Baker was born Marshfield 3 Nov 1690 and died there 14 Jun 1715. She married Marshfield 4 Mar 1713 Nathan Thomas but apparently had no children.

Eleanor Baker was born Marshfield 31 Mar 1692 and died there 6 May 1727. She married Marshfield 17 Jan 1716 Benjamin Phillips and they had four children (Marshfield): Jeremiah (1717), Benjamin (1719), John (1721) and infant son (1727).

Abigail Baker was born Marshfield 23 Dec 1693 and died there abt 25 Sep 1753. She married Gideon Thomas and they had six children (Marshfield): Abigail (1722), Mercy (1725), Anna (1726), Elizabeth (1729), Sarah (1732) and Eleanor (1733).

Bethiah Baker was born Marshfield 12 May 1699 and died Boston 13 Jul 1741. She married Boston 29 Dec 1720 James Scolley. She had two children prior to marriage, both died in 1718.

Keziah Baker was born Marshfield 15 Aug 1701 and died Rochester 12 May 1790. She married bef 14 Jan 1728 Nathaniel Sprague and they had three children (Rochester): Lucy (1732), Micah (1735) and Nathaniel (1738).

mtDNA Results T2b4-T152C!

The WikiTree profile for her mother, Welthian (Loring) Richards states a matrilineal descendant has mtDNA tested T2b4 with a back mutation at T152C!. A matrilineal descendant of Alice has also mtDNA tested.
