John Phinney was baptized at Lenton, Nottinghamshire, England on 15 Mar 1603, son of Robert Phinney. John died at Swansea 6 Jan 1686. He married three times, first Lenton 22 Nov 1636 to Christian Patten; second Barnstable 10 Jun 1650 to Abigail (Bishop) Coggin; and third Barnstable 26 Jun 1654 to Elizabeth Bailey. He had three children (Margaret, John & Thomas [died young]) by his first wife and seven children (Jonathan, Robert, Hannah, Elizabeth, Josiah, Jeremiah & Joshua) by his third wife.
