  1. Many genealogists have been searching for the identity of the wife of James Chilton. The only possible clue we currently have is the fact Nahum Mitchell published a History of Bridgewater, Massachusetts in 1840. He reported the given name of Mrs. Chilton was Susanna. When Mitchell was later asked about the source of this information, he could not recall, but was "quite certain" the information was accurate. Some have theorized where the wife may have been Susanna Furber, daughter of his step-mother (Isabell) by her first husband, Francis Furber.
