Background

First Generation

Like most early females, not much information has been discovered about Frances, wife of Dr./Capt. Matthew Fuller of Barnstable.[1] It is believed the only record of Frances was the fact she was named in her husband's will (at Barnstable) on 25 Jul 1678. Frances and Matthew had five children (possibly all born before the family emigrated to Plymouth Colony, order uncertain): Elizabeth, Mary, Samuel, Anna and John.

Second Generation

Elizabeth Fuller was likely born in England likely sometime after 1630. She died likely at Colchester, CT after 7 Mar 1714/5. Elizabeth married Barnstable 22 Apr 1652 Moses Rowley and they had ten children (Barnstable): Mary (1653), Moses (1654), infant daughter (d. Aug 1656), Mehitable (1659/60), Shuball (twin, 1659/60), Sarah (1662-p1700 unk. if marr.), Nathan (c1664), Aaron (c1665), John (1667) and Matthew (1669).

Mary Fuller was likely born in England, likely sometime after 1630. She died Barnstable after 11 May 1691 (named in husband's will). Mary married Barnstable 17 Apr 1650 Ralph Jones and they had seven children (Barnstable): Matthew (c1652), Shubal (1654), Jedediah (1656/7), John (1659), Mercy (1666, named in father's 1691 will, but no further record), Ralph (1669), Samuel, Ephraim (p1670), Mary (named in father's 1691 will, no further record) and Mehitable.

Anne (Anna) Fuller was born aft 1640 likely in Plymouth Colony, and died before 30 Dec 1691[2] She married circa 1657/8[3] Samuel Fuller (II) of Barnstable and they had six children: Joseph (c1661), Matthew (1663), Barnabas (c1665), Benjamin (1665), Desire (p1673)[4] and Sarah (p1673, no record after father's Dec 1691 probate).

Third Generation

Mary Rowley was born Barnstable about 20 Mar 1653 and died Falmouth 3 Sep 1696. She married Falmouth about 7 Jan 1675 John Weeks and they had ten children (Falmouth): Nathaniel (c1676), John (1678), William (1680/1), Elizabeth (1683 unk. if marr.), Shubael (1684/5), Ebenezer (1688), Abigail (1689/90 m Ichabod Hatch), Uriah (1693/4-1694), Mehitable (twin, l693/4 m Ichabod Johnson) and Mary (1696 m Nathan Hatch).

Mehitable Rowley was born Barnstable 11 Jan 1659/60 and died East Haddam, CT in 1732. She married Barnstable about 1679 "Little" John Fuller and they had eleven children: Thomas (1680), Samuel (c1682), Shubael (1684), Thankful (1689 m Jabez Crippen), Edward (c1691), Elisabeth (c1693 m Samuel Rowley), John (1697), Joseph (1699/1700), Benjamin (1701), Anne (c1704 m Jonathan Rowley) and Mehitable (1706 m Benjamin Kneeland).

Desire Fuller was born Barnstable likely aft Dec 1673 (as the Dec 1691 division of her father's estate, her portion was to be "kept until further notice.") and her death is unknown. She married New London, CT 11 Jun 1703 John Taylor and they had three children (order uncertain): Benjamin, Sarah (c1706) and John.

Fourth Generation

Sarah Taylor was born New London County, CT about 1706 and died Vernon, CT 3 Sep 1791. She married Colchester 17 Mar 1725 Ebenezer Skinner and they had nine children (8 born Colchester, last Hebron): Sarah (1725/6), Elizabeth (1727), Ebenezer (1729), Israel (twin 1730/1), Isaac (twin 1730/1), John (1732/3), Deborah (1735), Mary (1736/7) and Lydia (1740).

  1. A Matthew Fuller and Frances Hunsden were married at Pulham Market, Norfolkshire, England on 22 Jul 1633. It is likely this is the couple who later emigrated (with their older children) to Plymouth Colony.
  2. Administration of the intestate estate of her husband.
  3. TAG
  4. The probate of Matthew Fuller, dated 30 Dec 1691 stated the shares to Desire and Sarah were to be "kept until further notice." This statement is consistent with them being unmarried, and likely not yet of legal age (18).

mtDNA Results

At the present time no matrilineal (all female line) descendant of Anna (Fuller) Fuller has publicly stated they have taken an mtDNA test. Individuals who believe they are a matrilineal descendant (in other words, who believe their mother's mother's mother's etc. mother was Jane) are encouraged to take a full mtDNA test and to contact Raymond T.
