Status summary

Still to do of January 1, 2023:

  • Recruit patrilineal descendants of Enoch Hunt (preferably through grandson William) to Y-DNA test and publish their results. Any male who believe he is such a descendant should Read me First

First Generation

William3 Hunt (Ephraim, Enoch) was born Weymouth Apr 1655 and died Chilmark (Martha's Vineyard) 7 Jan 1726/7. He married abt 1687 Mary Bradford and they had two children (Weymouth): Mary (1687) and William (1693).

Second Generation

William Hunt (II) was born Weymouth 17 May 1693 and died Martha's Vineyard 19 Jul 1769. He married twice, first Chilmark 2 Jun 1718 Jane Tilton and second Plympton 7 Sep 1749 Sarah (Gray) Bradford[1] (no ch.) By his first wife, William had six children: Abia (1719), Mary (1721), Sarah (bp 1723), Jane (bp 1723), Hannah (bp 1726) and Samuel (1727)

Third Generation

Samuel Hunt was preumably born Chilmark 1727 and died Liverpool, Nova Scotia 15 Jan 1800. He married Chilmark 7 Jan 1747/8 Lois Mayhew and they had five children (Chilmark): William (1748), Oliver (1749/50-1763), Samuel (1751-1773 unm.), Lois (1753) and Ephraim (1756).

The Hunt Surname DNA Project currently does not list anyone claiming Enoch Hunt as their Most Distant Known Patrilineal Ancestor (MDKPA).

Further DNA testing needed

Testing of patrilineal descendants is needed. Any male who believes their patrilineal ancestry goes through Enoch Hut is encouraged to contact MayflowerDNA1620@gmail.com
