Status summary
Completed as of February 28, 2021:
- Recruiting additional direct male-line Christopher Webb descendants for NGS/WGS SNP testing - anyone interested in submitting their DNA for testing should contact Raymond T. Wing (email: wing.genealogist AT gmail DOT com)
Still to do as of February 28, 2021
- NGS/WGS test multiple Webb descendants to firmly place family clade as well as discover any subclades unique to descendants lines

Previous Y-DNA testing
The Webb Surname DNA Project Group: Christopher Webb (father of Peter) currently lists seven close STR matches, all claiming Christopher as their MDKPA. None of them have done any Y-SNP tested and all are predicted (by FTDNA) to fall under R1b-M269. Two of the individuals have done Y-67 STR testing. Plugging in the STR values into the Nevgen Haplogroup prediction tool gives a very low prediction of the family falling somewhere under R1b-L21. Other subclades of R1b-P312 are also predicted with extremely low probability. The tool predicted a 75% chance of the result falling under an "unsupported clade."
Further needed testing
We need direct male-line Simmons descendants to WGS/NGS test to confirm and further refine the haplogroup placement.
