Revision as of 09:33, 19 October 2020

Status summary

Completed as of October 1, 2020:

  • Recruiting additional direct male-line John Hayward descendants for further SNP testing - anyone interested in submitting their DNA for testing should contact Raymond T. Wing (email: wing.genealogist AT gmail DOT com)
  • Y-SNP predicted to fall under R1b-P312>>U152>Z56>Z145

Still to do as of October 1, 2020

  • NGS/WGS test multiple descendants of John Hayward to firmly place family clade as well as test descendants to discover any subclades unique to descendants lines

Biography

First Generation

John Hayward was born at Concord, MA 20 Oct 1640, son of George & Mary _____ Hayward. He died there 28 Nov 1714. He married at Concord 22 Jun 1671 Anna White, daughter of Resolved White and Judith Vassall. They had ten children; six daughters and four sons (George, William [not known to have married, and possibly died young], James [not known to have married, and possibly died young] & John).

Second Generation

DNA results R1b-Z145

Previous Y-DNA testing

The Howard (etc.) Y-DNA Project subgroup: R1b - Lineage 05 has one individual who claims George Hayward was their Most Distant Known Paternal Ancestor (MDKPA) and a second individual claiming William Hayward b. 1405 d 1450. No one in this subgroup has undertaken any SNP testing, and FTDNA predicts this group falls under R1b-M269. Two of the individuals in this subgroup have done 111 Y-STR testing. Plugging in these STR values into the Nevgen Haplogroup Predictor gives a 100% probability of it falling under R1b-P312>>U152>Z56>Z145.

Further needed testing

We need additional direct male-line descendants of John Hayward to WGS/NGS test to both confirm the haplogroup assignment as well as to refine the haplogroup further and delineate descendant clades.
