Biography
First Generation
The first known record of Edmund Weston was on the passenger list for the Elizabeth & Ann dated 8 May 1635, when he stated he was 30 years old. However, upon his emigration, he became a servant to John Winslow, and in Nov 1636 Winslow turned over the servitude (for two years beginning May 1637) to Nathaniel Thomas. Edmund had finished his indentured service by 1639 when he took the Oath of Fidelity at Duxbury. The date/place of his marriage and the name of his wife is currently unknown. He continued to live in Duxbury, where he made his will 18 Apr 1686, which was proved 3 Jun 1686.
Edmund had four children, a daughter Mary (married Philip Delano) and three sons: Edmund, Elnathan and John
Second Generation
Edmund (II) was born, presumably at Duxbury, about 1660.[1] He died at Plympton 23 Sep 1727 "in his 67th year". Edmund married Plymouth 13 Dec 1688 Rebecca Soule. They had Nathan
Elnathan was born, presumably at Duxbury, about 1662. He married about 1688 to Jane _____.
John was born, presumably at Duxbury, about 1664. He married twice, first by 1698 to Deborah Delano, and second Duxbury, 1 Oct 1717 Rebecca Peterson.
Third Generation
Nathan Weston married Desire Standish
- ↑ He deposed 25 Dec 1698 "aged about 38 years".
DNA results I1-M253
Previous Y-DNA testing
The Weston Worldwide surname DNA Project Group 06 has one individual claiming a Most Distant Known Paternal Ancestor (MDKPA) as Edmund Weston b. 1605. This individual has not done any SNP tested, but has done Y67 STR testing. FTDNA predicted the family would fall under the I1-M253 Haplogroup. Plugging in the STR values into the Nevgen Haplogroup Prediction tool comes back with an unsupported clade, so we cannot currently refine FTDNA's prediction.
Further needed testing
We need direct male-line Peabody descendants of Edmund Weston to WGS/NGS test to both confirm the lineage as well as to refine the haplogroup further and delineate descendant clades.
