Status summary

Completed as of April 20, 2021:

  • Recruiting direct male-line descendants of Samuel Lucas for SNP testing - anyone interested in submitting their DNA for testing should contact MayflowerDNA1620@gmail.com

Still to do as of April 20, 2021

  • NGS/WGS test multiple descendants of Thomas Lucas (and preferably of his son Samuel) to place the family clade as well as test descendants to discover any subclades unique to descendants lines

Previous Y-DNA testing

The Lucas surname DNA Project Group Thomas Lucas-MA has one individual, who has not done any Y-SNP testing, but has tested 67 Y-STRs. FTDNA has predicted his haplogroup as I-M223. Plugging in his STR values into the NevGen Haplogroup Predictor Tools gives a prediction of various subclades under: I2a2a-M223>Z161>L801>CTS6433 with a 35% probability of falling under an unsupported clade.

Further needed testing

We need additional direct male-line descendants of Thomas Lucas (and preferably of his son Samuel) to WGS/NGS test to confirm/refute this prediction and further refine the haplogroup/clade for the family.
