Biography

PROPOSED English Ancestry

The following is said to be the ancestry of the Southworth family in America. Further research is needed to verify or refute this line.

 Sir Thomasc Southworth, married Margery Boteler, daughter of Sir Thomas Boteler (of Royal descent) and Margaret Delves.
   Sir Johnb Southworth, married Mary Ashton.
     Thomasa Southworth, married Rosamond Lister, daughter of William Lister and Margaret Pigot.

First Generation

Edward Southworth is said to be a son of Thomas Southworth and Rosamond Lister. He was born about 1590, presumably in London. He married Leiden, Holland 28 May 1613 Alice Carpenter, daughter of Alexander Carpenter. They had at least two sons who lived in Plymouth Colony: Constant & Thomas

Second Generation

Constant Southworth is said to have been born about 1614 and died in Duxbury 11 Mar 1678/9. He married at Plymouth 2 Nov 1637 Elizabeth, daughter of William Collier. They had eight children, five daughters and three sons: Edward, Nathaniel & William

Thomas Southworth is said to have been born about 1617 and died at Plymouth 8 Dec 1669 in his 53rd year.[1] He married Plymouth 1 Sep 1641 Elizabeth Reynor.[2] They only had 1 daughter, Elizabeth.

Third Generation

Edward Southworth married Duxbury 16 Nov 1671 Mary Pabodie. They had eight children.

Nathaniel Southworth married Plymouth 10 Jan 1672 Desire Gray. They had six children.

William Southworth married twice, first to Rebecca Pabodie (died 25 Dec 1702). They had nine children. William then married Nov 1705 Martha (Kirkland) Blague and they had two sons.

Further needed testing

We need direct male-line Peabody descendants of the Southworth family to WGS/NGS test to refine the haplogroup further and delineate descendant clades.
