Parentage of James Brown

Geni.com profile for Richard Skiffe states the immigrant Skiffe Ancestor (James Skiffe) was the son of Richard Skiffe & Margaret Otis and Richard Skiffe was the son of James Skiff and his wife Margery. This ancestry has not been confirmed by this compiler, and may be in error.

First Generation

James Skiffe was said to have been born in London about 1610 and died in Sandwich aft 9 Jun 1687. He married Mary _____ about 1637. They had nine children: James, Stephen, Nathaniel, Sarah, Bathshua, Patience, Mary, Benjamin (no children) & Nathan

Second Generation

James Skiffe (II) is said to have been born in Sandwich 12 Sep 1638 and died there 6 Jun 1724. He married twice, first 18 Nov 1659 Elizabeth Tabor (no children), then abt Mar 1677 Sarah Barnard. They had six children (Beulah, Hannah, Mary, Patience, Sarah, and a son who never married. Thus there is no living Y-DNA line from this son.

Stephen Skiffe born Sandwich 14 Apr 1641 and died there 8 Jun 1710. He married Lydia Snow and they had four children: Abigail, Deborah, Lydia & Stephen.

Nathaniel born Sandwich 20 Mar 1645 and died Chilmark 9 Feb 1723. He married twice, first likely bef 1669 to Mary Partridge, and second aft 1683 to Ruth West. By his first wife he had a daughter Sarah. It is currently unknown who was the mother to John, Nathaniel & Hannah. Finally, his youngest child (Stephen) was by his second wife.
