First Generation

(Mr.) John Jenney/Jenne His marriage record stated he was from Norwich, England. He was possibly a son of John Jenney, a miller of Lakenham (within Norwich).[1] He died Plymouth 28 Dec 1643. He married Leiden 1 Nov 1614 Sarah Carey and they had seven children: Samuel (1615), infant (1618-1618), Abigail (c1621), son (1623-b1627), Sarah (c1625), John (b1627)[2] and Susanna (c1634).

Second Generation

Samuel Jenney was born Leiden about 1616 and died Dartmouth 25 Nov 1685. He married twice, first Plymouth about 1645 Susanna Wood and second Plymouth about 1657 Anne Lettice. By his first wife he had four children: Sarah (c1646), John (1647), Job (1650) and Jonathan (1653). By his second wife he had six more children: Susanna (1657), Samuel (1659), Elizabeth (1660), Lettice (son, 1662), Mark (c1663) and Ruth (c1665).

Third Generation

John Jenney was born Plymouth 10 Apr 1647 and died there 10 Apr 1727. He married twice, first 9 Jan 1685 Margaret Hicks then bef 17 Nov 1699 Mary Mitchell (no children). By his first wife he had six children: Sarah (1672), Mehitable (1673), Elizabeth (1675), Samuel (1678), Lydia (1682) and John (c1690).

Job Jenney was born Plymouth in 1650 and died Middleborough in 1702. He is not known to have married.

Jonathan Jenney was born Plymouth in 1653 and died Windham, CT 27 Jun 1733. He married abt 1678 Susannah Wade and they had eight children: Jonathan (1678/9), Mary (1683), Joseph (1685), Hannah (1689), Ebenezer (1691), Abigail (1693), Lydia (1695) and David (1698).

Samuel Jenney was born Plymouth 3 Jul 1659 and died there 3 Apr 1716. He married Hannah _____ and they had at least one child: Susannah (1697).

Lettice Jenney was born Plymouth about 1662 and died Dartmouth in 1734. He married Desire Blackwell and they had twelve children: Cornelius (1697), Sarah (1699), Reliance (1701), Ignatius (1703), Mary (1705), Benjamin (1707), Caleb (1709), Ruth (1711), Samuel (1714), Elizabeth (1716), Nathaniel (1720) and Parnell (dau. 1722).

Mark Jenney was born Plymouth about 1663 and died Bristol (now in RI) 19 Aug 1740. He married Plymouth abt 1700 Elizabeth Barlow and they had three children: Nathan (1701), Anna (1703) and Samuel (1705).


  1. John Jenney of Plymouth Colony was also a Miller and called his property "Lakenham".
  2. Named in father's 1643 will but not in mother's 1655 will, so likely died unmarried between those dates.

While the Jennings surname project covers the Jenney surname, no patrilineal descendants of John Jenney have joined this project. Anyone who believes they are a patrilineal (all male line) descendant are encouraged to test and join this project.
