Current results

There is a conflict in the Jenkins Surname DNA Project regarding the Y-DNA of John Jenkins (father of Joseph). GP B has four results (all close STR matches to each other) with one individual stating their Most Distant Known Patrilineal Ancestor (MDKPA) was "John Jenkins of Sandwich, MA, Quaker, b. ca 1625". Down at the bottom of the Jenkins Surname DNA Project, under Group Unm_R is another individual (who is NOT a STR match to the above) who claims his MDKPA was "John Jenkins, b.1609 Kent and d.1685 Barnstable, M"[1]

None of the Gp B participants have taken any Y-SNP testing. Two of the four individuals under GP B have taken Y67 Y-STR testing. Plugging in their modal values into the Nevgen Haplogroup Predictor arrives with a predicted subclade of R1b L21>DF13>Z39589>DF49>>ZP75 (64.1% certainty). The Unm_R tester has taken a Big Y test and been found to fall under: R1a-M417>PF6162>Z283>Z282>Y2395>Z289>Z284>S4458>S5301>S6842>YP670>S7759>YP1187>FGC42407>Y9077>FT345509

More testing needed

Additional Y-DNA Y-SNP testing is needed for Patrilineal (all male line, Y-DNA) descendants of John Jenkins to determine the true haplogroup for the family as well as possibly refine descendant branches.
