First Generation

Eleazer Lewis [Lewes], son of Edward Lewis[1] and Hannah Cobb, was born Barnstable 26 Jun 1664 and died Middleborough about 3 Feb 1727. He married twice, first Plymouth 27 Jul 1696 Hannah Fuller and second Middleborough aft 1708 Mary ____ (not known to descend from a Mayflower passenger). By his first wife Eleazer had five children: Edward (c1698 unk. if marr.), Susanna (c1700), Hannah (1703), Elizabeth (c1705) and Shubael (c1707).

Second Generation

Shubael Lewis was born Middleborough about 1707 and died there (date unknown). He married Plympton 14 Mar 1733/4 Hasadiah (Hezediah) Eddy and they had seven children: Eleazer (c1734), Gideon (c1736), Jabez (c1737), Samuel (bp1739), Abner (bp1743), Seth (bp 1746) and Mary.

Third Generation

Eleazer Lewis was born abt 1734 and died Warren, RI 15 Nov 1804. He married Middleborough 27 Nov 1755 Mary Eddy and they had nine children: Isaac (c1756), Anna, Lois, Keziah, infant (d.1770), Chloe (1772), Daniel (c1775), Martha (1777) and Abner (c1779).

Gideon Lewis was born abt 1736 and died PA abt 1825. He married Sarah Shailor Spencer and they had seven children: Polly, Betsy, Sally, Abner, Ezra, Levi and Lyman.

Jabez Lewis was born abt 1737 and died Weathersfield, VT about 1807. He married c1755 Mary Hayman and they had nine children: Samuel (c1756), Jabez (c1757), Shubael, Wilcox (1768), Abner, Hannah, Jesse, Seth and Mary (c1772).

Samuel Lewis was bp Middleborough 29 Mar 1739 and died aft 1 Feb 1811. He married Claremont, NH 1805 Hannah M. Bradley and they had at least: Samuel.

Abner Lewis was bp Middleborough 17 Apr 1743 and died Swansea 7 Jul 1826. He married twice, first Bridgewater 23 Sep 1763 Mercy Hall then (int. Harwich 27 Jan 1809) Mercy SMITH Chase. It appears he did not have any children by either wife.

Seth Lewis was bp Middleborough 8 Jun 1746 and died aft 2 Sep 1788. He married Katherine Willard, but no known children.

Previous Y-DNA testing

The Lewis surname DNA Project subgroup: Haplogroup R1b - Group 09 contains a number of individuals claiming George Lewis as their Most Distant Known Patrilineal Ancestor (MDKPA). Eight of them have taken the Big Y-700 test and been found to fall under: R1b-L21>S552>DF13>FGC5494>Y9096>BY34905>BY137177 (with some of them descended from a direct subclade, BY122833). Those individuals who have Y-DNA tested are encouraged to contact MayflowerDNA1620@gmail.com and disclose their lineage from George.
