He married by 1699 Mary Soule and they had seven children (Dartmouth): Christopher (1699/1700), Lydia (1701), Joseph (1703), Mary (1705), Hannah (1707), Benjamin (1709) and Jonathan (1711).

Previous Y-DNA testing
As of 30 Oct 2020, Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) does not have either a Devol or Deuel surname DNA Project, but they have five kits associated with the Devol surname and fourteen kits associated with the Deuel surname.
Further needed testing
We need direct male-line descendants of Joseph Devol to WGS/NGS test to define the haplogroup.
