Biography

From: The Descendants of Captain Thomas Baxter of Cape Cod

First Generation

Thomas Baxter was born, presumably in England, about 1653[1] and died at (West) Yarmouth on 22 Jun 1713. [1] The date and circumstances of his emigration to New England is currently unknown. He married Temperance Gorham 27 Jan 1679/80 at Yarmouth. They had three sons: Thomas, John, Shubal

Second Generation

Thomas Baxter (II) married twice, first 3 May 1705 Mary Lattimer and second to Hannah Crowell. All of his children were by his first wife: 2 daughters and four sons (Timothy, Thomas, Cornelius, Malachi)


John Baxter was born in 1685 and died in 1749. He married 11 Jun 1706 Desire Gorham. They had twelve children; five daughters and seven sons (John, Joseph, Isaac, Hezekiah, Samuel, Thomas & Shubal)


Shubael Baxter, Esq. was born in 1687 and died 12 Apr 1741. He married Elizabeth Gorham. They had two daughters and son, Richard.

Previous Y-DNA testing

The Family Tree DNA Baxter DNA Project currently does not list any Y-DNA descendants of Capt. Thomas Baxter of Cape Cod.

Further needed testing

We need direct male-line descendants of this Baxter family to WGS/NGS test to discover where this family falls in the Y-DNA tree.
