English Ancestry
(Rev.) William Eddye was born in the city of Bristol, Gloucestershire, England[1] abt 1560 and was buried Cranbrook, Kent 20 Nov 1616. He married twice, first Cranbrook 20 Nov 1587 Mary Fosten, then Cranbrook 22 Feb 1613/4 widow Sarah Taylor. By his first wife he had ten children: Nathaniel (1589 d.y.), Mary (1591), Phineas (1593), John (1596/7), Eleanor/Ellen (1599-1610), Abigail (1601), Anna (1603), Elizabeth (1606), Samuel (1608) and Zacharias (1609/10). By his second wife he had one more child: Priscilla (1614 unm.)
First Generation
John Eddy was baptized Cranbrook, Kent 27 Mar 1597 and died Watertown 12 Oct 1684. He married twice, first England abt 1620 Amy Doggett then Watertown 12 May 1666 Joan Frewin (widow of Gabriel Meade) (no ch.) By his first wife he had ten children: John (1622-1622/3), John (1624-1624), Mary (1625/6), Sarah (c1628), Pilgrim (dau 1634), John (1636 unm.), Benjamin (d. 1639), Samuel (1640), Abigail (1643 n.f.r.) and Ruth (c1645).
Samuel Eddy was bp Cranbrook, Kent 15 May 1608 and died Swansea 12 Nov 1687. He married 1637 Elizabeth Savery and they had five children: John (1637), Zachariah (c1639), Caleb (c1643), Obadiah (c1645) and Hannah (1647 n.f.r.)
Second Generation
Samuel Eddy was born Watertown 30 Sep 1640 and died there 22 Nov 1711. He married Watertown 30 Nov 1664 Sarah Meade and they had eight children: John (1666), Samuel (1668), Sarah (1670), Benjamin (1673), Deliverance (dau 1676), Elizabeth (1678), Ruth (1681) and Joanna (1685).
John Eddy was born Plymouth 25 Dec 1637 and died Tisbury 27 May 1715. He married Hepzibah Doggett and they had nine children: Alice (1659), Sarah (1661), Elizabeth (c1663), Hepzibah (c1665), Amy (c1668), Hannah (c1670), Beulah (c1680), Benjamin (1685-1709 unm.) and Abigail (1688).
Zachariah Eddy was born Plymouth 7 Mar 1639[/40?] and died Swansea 14 Sep 1718. He married twice, first Swansea 7 May 1663 Alice Paddock then 24 Sep 1692 Alice Montgomery (no ch.) By his first wife he had seven children: Zachariah (1664), John (1666), Elizabeth (1670), Ebenezer (1675), Caleb (1678), Joshua (1680) and Obadiah (1683).
Caleb Eddy was born Plymouth abt 1643 and died Swansea 23 Mar 1713. He married Swansea 6 Dec 1671 Elizabeth Bullock and they had six children: Caleb (1672), Samuel (1675), Elizabeth (1678), Hannah (1680), Hopestill (dau c1684) and Mary (1698).
Obadiah Eddy was born Middleborough abt 1645 and died there 6 Nov 1727. He married bef 1669 Bennet Ellis and they had nine children: John (1669), Hazadiah (1672), Benjamin (c1673), Mercy (c1674), Samuel (1675), Jabez (c1677), Bennet (c1678), Elizabeth (1683) and Hannah (c1690).
Third Generation

Previous testing
The Eddy surname DNA Project Group: "Hap R Group 4 Eddy of Cranbrook" contains seven individuals claiming John Eddy or his father (Rev.) Willim Eddy as their Most Distant Known Patrilineal Ancestor (MDKPA). They fall under the R-M269 Haplogroup. Two of the individuals have taken the Family Finder autosomal test and FTDNA was able to refine their haplogroup placement to: R-L151.

Two members in this group have taken the Big Y-700 test and have been shown to fall under the following haplogroup: R-DF27>ZZ12_1>Z2552>FGC31063>L617>FTA37993>FTA37980>FTA40802
