''Y Elite'' test results may be able to place the Soule lineage more precisely and will identify a number of more recent SNP markers. Testing of multiple individuals may be able to pin individual SNP markers to specific individuals affiliated with George Soule. |

Previous Y-DNA testing
Previous Y-STR testing through the Mayflower Society[1] and the Soule surname DNA project[2] has indicated that the Mayflower Soule lineage belongs to the Y haplogroup I-M253, which is quite common in Northern and Northwestern Europe. More specifically, the Soule lineage can be classified within I-M253 as DF29>Z58>Z59>Z60>Z140>Z2535>S1954 (with YSC0000261 being a synonym for the "terminal" SNP, S1954). Y Elite test results may be able to place the Soule lineage more precisely and will identify a number of more recent SNP markers. Testing of multiple individuals may be able to pin individual SNP markers to specific individuals affiliated with George Soule.
