Completed as of October 1, 2020:
- Recruiting direct male-line John Washburn descendants for further SNP testing - anyone interested in submitting their DNA for testing should contact Raymond Wing (email: wing.genealogist AT gmail DOT com)
Still to do as of October 1, 2020
- NGS/WGS test multiple descendants of John Washburn (and ideally descendant of his son John II) to firmly place family clade as well as test descendants to discover any subclades unique to descendants lines.
Biography
First Generation
John Washburn (II)[1] was baptized at Bengeworth, Worcestershire, England on 26 Nov 1620, the son of John Washburn and Margery Moore. He died at Bridgewater 12 Nov 1686. Previous Y-DNA testing
As of 1 Oct 2020, the Washburn, Washburne, Wasbourne, etc. Family Project Subgroup: "Ungrouped" (at bottom) lists six individuals all match each other and claim John Washburn 1607-1670 as their Most Distant Known Paternal Ancestor (MDKPA). However, another five individuals are in Subgroup: "I-M253 Henry Washburn born 1820 was in Ohio and Bracken County KY" all whom match each other as well as match the six individuals in the "Ungrouped" section at bottom. One of the individuals[1] in the "Henry Washburn" grouping has SNP tested I-M253>DF29>Z63>BY151>L849>S2078>S2077>Y6375>Y6384>Y13945>BY40658>BY40607
Further needed testing
More Y-DNA descendants of John Washburn (ideally from his son, John (II)) are needed to do Next Generation Sequence/Whole Genome Sequence (NGS/WGS) DNA testing to further refine the haplogroup for the family as well as try to further subdivide the descendants.
- ↑ This individual claims Roger Washbourne 1227-1299 was his MDKPA, and it is believed Roger was the Y-DNA ancestor of John Washburn 1607-1670.
