Biography
First Generation
Thomas Paine was likely the son of Thomas Paine who settled at Yarmouth in 1639. He died Eastham 16 Aug 1706. Thomas married Eastham Jul 1650 Mary Snow and they had ten children (born Eastham): Mary(c1650), Samuel (1652), Thomas (1656), Eleazer[1] (1658 n.f.r.), Elisha, John (1660/1), Nicholas, James (1665), Joseph and Dorcas
Second Generation
Samuel Paine was likely born in Eastham in 1652 and died there 13 Oct 1712. He married Eastham 31 Jan 1682 Patience Freeman and they had nine children (born Eastham): Samuel (1683-1706 unm.), Mercy (1686), Nathaniel (1689-1706/7 unm.), Ebenezer (1692), Elizabeth (1694), Joshua (1696), Isaac (1698/9 prob. unm.), Mary (1703/4) and Seth (1706-1722/3 unm.)
Thomas Paine (III) was born Eastham Jul 1656 and died Truro 23 Jun 1721. He married twice, first Eastham 5 Aug 1678 Hannah Shaw and second Boston 8 Mar 1714/5 Elizabeth ____ Aires. Children only by first wife (born Eastham): Hannah (1679-1681), Hugh (1680-1681), Thomas (1681/2), Hannah (1684), Jonathan (1685/6), Abigail (1687/8-1688/9), Phebe (1690/1-1695/6), Elkanah (1692/3), Moses (1695), Joshua (1697), Phebe (1698/9), Lydia (1700) and Barnabas (1705).
Elisha Paine was poss. the "Eliezer" born Eastham 10 Mar 1658. He died Canterbury, CT 7 Feb 1735/6. He married Eastham 20 Jan 1685 Rebecca Doane and they had ten children: Abigail (1686), Rebecca (c1690), Abraham (1691), Elisha (1693), Mary (1695/6), Solomon (1698), Dorcas (1699/1700), Constance (1704/5), John (1707) and Hannah.
John Paine was born Eastham 14 Mar 1660/1 and died there 18 Oct 1731.[2] He married twice, first Eastham 14 Mar 1688/9 Bennett Freeman and second Eastham 3 Mar 1719/20 Alice Mayo. By his first wife he had thirteen children (born Eastham): John (1690), Mary (1692/3), William (1695), Benjamin (1696/7-1713 unm.), Sarah (1699), stillborn child (1700/1), Elizabeth (1702), Theophilus (1703/4), Joshua (1705/6-1728 unm.), Nathaniel (1707-1728 unm.), Rebecca (1709), Mercy (1712) and Benjamin (1714-1716/7). By his second wife, John had five children (born Eastham): Hannah (1720/1-1723/4), James (1723-1723/4), Thomas (1725), Alice (twin, 1728) and Hannah (twin, 1728).
Nicholas Paine was born Eastham and died there bet 29 Jul 1732 - 16 Jan 1732/3. He married Eastham abt 1699 Hannah Higgins and they had seven children (born Eastham): Thankful (1699/1700), Priscilla (1701), Philip (1704-1725 unm.), Lois (1705), Abigail (1707), Hannah (1709) and Lydia. There are no living Y-DNA descendants of Nicholas.
James Paine was born Eastham 6 Jul 1665 and died Barnstable 12 Nov 1728. He married Barnstable 9 Apr 1691 Bethiah Thacher (daughter of [[Tha(t)cher (Y-DNA)#First Generation|John Thacher and his first wife Rebecca Winslow) and they had seven children (born Barnstable): James (1691/2-1711 unm.), Thomas (1694), Bethiah (1695/6-1697), Bethiah (1698), Mary (1700), Experience (dau, 1702/3) and Rebecca (1705-1726).
